A coronavirus (COVID-19) booster vaccine dose helps improve the protection you have from your first 2 doses of the vaccine. It helps give you longer-term protection against getting seriously ill from COVID-19.

Booster vaccine doses will be available on the NHS for people most at risk from COVID-19 who have had a 2nd dose of a vaccine at least 6 months ago.
This includes:
people aged 50 and over

frontline health and social care workers
people aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts them at high risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19
carers aged 16 and over
people aged 16 and over who live with someone who is more likely to get infections (such as someone who has HIV, has had a transplant or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis)
People who are pregnant and in 1 of the eligible groups can also get a booster dose.
How and when to get your COVID-19 booster vaccine
You'll be offered a booster dose at least 6 months after you had your 2nd dose.
The NHS and Mocketts Wood Surgery will let you know when it's your turn to have a booster dose. It's important not to contact the NHS or GP Surgery for one before then.
Who can book online
You can book your COVID-19 booster vaccine dose online (link below) if you are a frontline health or social care worker or if you have been contacted by the NHS and you are either:
aged 50 and over
aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts you at high risk from COVID-19
Bookings through the Surgery
Mocketts Wood Surgery will also be inviting eligible patients through the AccuRx message booking system. Should you receive a text message you can make your booking by clicking on the link provided in the text.
The surgery will also follow up by phone or letter for those patinets who do not have a mobile phone.
Location of Covid Boosters
The covid boosters will be done at the SAGA Vaccination Centre, Haines Road, Ramsgate CT12 5ZW. At the moment there are clinics running every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday up until the end of October.
Patients who are in a care home or who are housebound will be contacted by the surgery as soon as dates have been confirmed for the roll out of these.
Additional Notes
We apologise for any covid booster invitations you may still be receiving subsequent to having had your vaccination. At the moment NHS digital are still working on the filing of these booster vaccinations to your medical records. NHS Coronavirus information:

COVID-19 Vaccination Information
From week commencing 15th March 2021 all COVID-19 vaccines will now be delivered at the Thanet (SAGA) Hub on the Haine Road.
The surgery team will be working alongside other practices at this central Hub to vaccinate the remaining groups and to deliver the second doses for all patients previously vaccinated at The St Peters Community Halls.
The Thanet hub has adequate parking facilities and will be easy for patients to book and attend, also more efficient for us to deliver the vaccines.
Stage Coach will be offering a free hopper bus service from the Westwood Cross bus stop behind Debenhams every 15 minutes to the vaccination hub.
We will be using an electronic booking system so if you receive a text from your GP Practice with the Hub address, please respond and book your vaccination.
We ask you to follow the instructions in the text to book or cancel appointments and not to contact the surgery to confirm details.
For those patients without a mobile phone the surgery will contact you to book second doses but it would help us greatly if as many people as possible use the electronic booking system to speed up the booking process.
Walk-In Clinics Cancelled
To support the efforts to minimise the spread of coronavirus Mocketts Wood Surgery has made the decision to temporarily suspend WALK-IN Clinics from the 16th March 2020 until further notice.
This may put pressure on the telephone lines at the practice so please be patient. You may use online services to contact the practice - this is a way of sending a query electronically. We will be enabling video consultations from the 16th March 2020 with the doctors.*
The practice will review and advise you about the most appropriate course of action for your needs. This can be accessed via online services via the patient access App.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
* Video consultations will be completed via secure link where the patient will receive a text message, once clicked on the doctors will be in touch shortly after.
